Warning

CONTAMINATION WARNING:

THIS GENERALLY APPLIES TO FLOORS THAT ARE BEING SANDED AND FINISHED FOR THE FIRST TIME ONLY...
PREVIOUSLY SANDED AND FINISHED FLOORS WILL OF COURSE ALREADY HAVE TELL-TALE MARKINGS IF THERE ARE ANY TO BE SEEN.

CONTAMINATION WARNING !
On the very odd occasion, unavoidable small white/blue markings can appear after lacquer/varnish is applied. These markings are totally undetectable until the finish is applied, and are due to a chemical reaction between the modern high-tech water-based lacquer, and something previously leaked into the floor, not neccessarily recent, possibly 10, 20, 30 years ago!
From our experience, we suspect a chemical linked to heating systems, as they generally appear local to radiators or fire places, where a back boiler would have once been mounted or perhaps removed.
As these marks are unidentifiable until this point, there is no prevention available, though often so small that most clients don’t even notice them until we point them out.
In extreme cases, if the client cannot live with these marks, the affected floor can be removed, replaced and locally sanded and finished. This will be charged at the standard SLS Ltd rate of £30 per man hour, plus materials.

SLS Ltd must emphasise that this only happens on very rare occassions and it’s highly unlikely to happen on floors previously sanded and finished showing no signs at present...
