The slideshow to the right shows the finished floor.
A solid walnut floor with a micro-bevel that had been in constant use by tenants in a luxury London apartment.
To avoid the unecessary and inevitable sanding processes that any floor will require if left to wear through due to normal foot traffic after a period of time, this very wise client arranged for SLS Ltd to carry out a full re-oiling process to bring the floors back to life. This was completed at a fraction of the cost of sanding, with far less upheavil and of course, a far more eco-friendly approach in deed!
Here (right) you can see a problem with modern UV cured oil finishes that initially react with cleaning and cutting back processes. Once an even surface has been achieved with the preparation and first coat applied, the second coat completes the finish and brings the floor back to life...
All oiled floors including factory supplied oiled floors can be refreshed with two coats of hard wax oil to revitalise them with added protection and a new look...
First we have to deep clean (left) to remove all cleaning agents, polish, waxes and other contamination that may be on the surface. We then cut back the top surface to allow a mechanical adhesion for the new coat to applied.
